Voting for The Lightbox will mean helping us to fund our free family workshops that we run in the school holidays. We are more than a gallery and believe that art is for everyone and can be an incredibly beneficial outlet. As well as our busy schedule of workshops for families and children we also work with several community partners to provide arts programmes for people living with dementia, learning disabilities and the homeless. The best part of working with any group is to see a person’s confidence soar and the pride evident in their faces when they have created a piece of art that is shown in the gallery.

  • MidasPlus Fundraising is a local registered charity helping needy people and organisations in North West Surrey.
We raise our funds by running “fun” events like the duck races at Staines-upon-Thames Day, a Valentine Ball and dinners at local pubs and restaurants.
  • We have helped lots of needy causes – recently we have paid for new motors for a disabled lady’s wheelchair, bought a special bicycle for a boy with cerebral palsy and funded the refurbishment of a shower at the White Lodge Centre.
  • Do you know anybody that needs our help – please let us know
  • Would you like to help? Please have a look at our website – We need people to help increase our awareness by delivering leaflets and telling other charities, social workers and carers about us and what we can offer to people in their care who may be in need and by setting up and/or helping with events.
  • Please contact or phone Ray on 07989 851753 or Mike on 07803 706440. Thank you

Christopher’s Smile – coz kids get cancer too

Got a Minute?  Listen to the 60 Second Challenge Audio Recording to why you should vote for Christopher’s Smile

Having lost our only child aged 4 to an aggressive brain tumour, we set up Christopher’s Smile in October 2008 to make a difference for other children diagnosed with cancer. We fund research into new safe and effective treatments which allow children a good quality of life—we believe they deserve this.

We operate on an entirely volunteer basis. 100% of all donations go to much needed research. We have awarded 6 research grants and fully funded 4 researchers. We campaign hard and were invited this year to speak on a European platform in Brussels to bring to light issues hampering scientific progress.

We have raised £930,000 in just under 7 years. There is much still to do and if you would like to know more about our work, please visit:

“Our vision is for every child diagnosed with childhood cancer to not only survive, but to reach adulthood enjoying a good quality of life.”
